PROFESSIONAL DRONE REGULATIONS

Sometimes drones can be a threat in case of use for malicious purposes. The use of personal drones is worldwide regulated and legislation varies from country to country. In France, regulations for professional drones are the responsibility of the DGAC (General Directorate of Civil Aviation).

Professional drone pilots are prohibited from flying over certain sensitive areas. These include urban areas, aerodromes, and nuclear power plants. Any use of a drone inside controlled or regulated spaces must be subject to prior authorization.

All operators of particular so-called professional or commercial activities must declare their activity. They have the obligation to renew this declaration each time the activity is modified and every 24 months.

All remote pilots must imperatively hold a theoretical certificate of drone pilot training

 The maximum flight height for remote control drones is 150 m above the ground unless special authorization has been obtained. For drone flights out of pilot’s view, the regulatory height is 50 m

Drones pose a risk of falling and can, therefore, be dangerous. For drones of more than 2 kg, a device (such as a parachute) must be put in place to limit the impact in case of fall. It is also necessary to establish a security perimeter so that the drone remains away from all people nonconcerned by the mission.
